It encompasses 73.36 sq miles at an elevation of 1,243′ and had a population of 2.302 million people in the year 2005. According to Unesco, it is world heritage centre, having been “at the crossroads of several trade routes from the 2nd millennium B.C., Aleppo has been ruled by the Hittites, Assyrians, Arabs, Mongols, Mamelukes and Ottomans.”

But when you hear the name Aleppo, you probably remember the stories. Thanks to Krista Tippett for pointing this out in her book Becoming Wise: An Inquiry into the Art of Living.
